Who is Anna Atkins and what does she have to do with Cyanotypes ?
Anna Atkins was the first female photographer. She had made thirteen known version of her work and published it into a book called "British Algae cyanotype impressions" this was between 1843 - 1853.
What is a cyan type & how could you make one ?
Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces images in a distinctive dark greenish blue colour, this has been around for a bout 170 years. "The word cyan comes from the Greek language and means " Dark blue substance".
Step - By - Step way to create your own cynotype
-Start by getting chemical coated paper then place your objects on top of that paper. This printing process should be done where there is a appearance of sunlight, you could do it without however the pictures won't come out as good.'
After placing your objects on your paper wait 30 seconds. After thirty seconds remove them, take them through the "development phase" Developer, stop bath and fixer. This method with make the objects shadows that you have place onto your paper come up.

Over all I didn't like the cyanotype method because the end results were not very good. It might be because I did not leave it in the sun for long enough or the fact that it kept moving. I don't think I will be using this printing process in the future because I don't like the end result.
